Vanished
10-11-12 October 2024, WUK Vienna, Austria
Vanished brings together an ensemble of eight young non-professional performers, aged 16 to 21, in a landscape that is continuously built, dismantled, and rebuilt. Using large blocks, the performers construct and reconfigure the stage space in real time—shaping temporary architectures that are never fixed, only provisional.
Placing adolescence at its centre, the work does not treat age as a theme to be illustrated, but as a condition: a state of becoming in which forms, relations, and identities remain unstable. The performers move between moments of inward withdrawal and collective labour, oscillating between the solitude of an inner world and the necessity of acting together.
Vanished unfolds in a space suspended between what has already fallen away and what has not yet taken shape. Through simple gestures, sustained presence, and shared effort, the performance invites a pause—a moment of listening—where meaning emerges not through narration, but through the careful negotiation of space, material, and togetherness.
